DePaul announces Ellerbe as new assistant

CHICAGO - DePaul men's basketball coach Oliver Purnell announced today that Brian Ellerbe has joined the staff as an assistant coach. Ellerbe comes to DePaul after serving as an assistant coach last season at George Washington.

"Brian's wealth of experience and credentials are impeccable," said Purnell. "Not only is he an outstanding basketball coach, he is an outstanding person. In the 30 years I've know Brian, he has recruited, mentored and developed student-athletes at the highest levels of basketball."

Oliver Purnell announces his staff

CHICAGO - After being named head coach on April 6, Oliver Purnell announced today the members of the coaching staff that will join him in Lincoln Park. Associate head coach Ron Bradley, assistant coaches Billy Garrett and Kevin Nickelberry, and director of basketball operations Josh Postorino will assist Purnell in leading the men's basketball program.

DePaul closes out 2010 with post player

With one remaining scholarship currently left for the 2010 class, DePaul fans were curious to see who landed the final scholarship. That question was answered last night, as six-foot-nine Walter Pitchford gave his verbal to DePaul. Pitchford will be attending New Creations Prep in Richmond, Indiana. Previously, Pitchford played at Oak Hill his sophomore year, and attended Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central, but was unable to play due to transfer issues. This summer, Pitchford split his time between Team Detroit and the Michigan Mustangs on the AAU circuit.

DePaul inks three for 2010 class

CHICAGO - DePaul basketball coach Jerry Wainwright announced today that Moses Morgan, Walter Pitchford and Brandon Young have each signed a National Letter of Intent to play at DePaul University. The trio heads to Lincoln Park next season from Las Vegas, Richmond, Ind., and Washington, D.C. to join the men's basketball program.

"All three of these kids can really shoot, can score, and they're long," said Wainwright. "We needed to get taller, longer and more athletic. All three kids are excited about the opportunity to play in the BIG EAST."

DePaul secures second 2010 commitment

A source close to DePaul has confirmed that the Blue Demons landed their second commitment in two days for the class of 2010. Six-foot five wing Moses Morgan of  Las Vegas Palo Verde joins PG Brandon Young in DePaul's 2010 class. Morgan is currently finishing out his official visit.
